However, I would suggest that women who plan to use it for lower back pain order one size up from what the sizing chart recommends, because it does not take into account womens' wider hips. I have a 27" inch waist, so I ordered the small, as referenced. But because I have L5 spondylolisthesis, I wear the Vector slightly lower than my waist. I can still get an inch or two of velcro overlap, but it rides up sometimes, and it can pop off if I put too much pressure on it from flexing. Some pants add too much bulk for me to wear this over them. But if you ordered a size up (M), there is such a generous amount of velcro altogether that it seems to me that you would still be able to make it quite small!
