"When I found out I was going to be doing the Nashville Women’s Running Series Half Marathon, I was very excited…

It was decided early on that this race would be wrapped into a mini-vacation (aka “race-cation”) and we booked our flight to leave Florida on Thursday morning and not return until Monday Evening. Packing for out of state races is always kind of tricky for me, especially given the fact that I am horrible about checking the weather or the course. Therefore, a separate carry-on suitcase was required for my race attire and accessories *running shorts, running capris, running pants, thick socks, thin socks, pink running shirt, Bio Skin logo shirt and, well, you get the idea without having to mention the rest of the necessary gear)…

The course of this race was my favorite kind—an “out and back” loop. It started and finished right at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, which is right down the street from the Ryman Auditorium.

While the temperature was a little lower than Florida, I began to feel the humidity building very quickly while we were walking around… Have I mentioned elevation yet? Well let me tell you this: If you are from Florida where it’s “flat and fast,” I suggest you look at the course elevation map before ever signing up for a race in Tennessee!!—Four days post-race and my thighs are STILL telling me about those hills!

When I crossed the finish line, Jane was there to snap a finish photo so I gave her my standard pose. Of course, there’s a huge smile on my face for two reasons: first, I was finished with this race; and second, the bling was crazy huge!"
